I have had Big Ed's on several occasions. I always order delivery. As the other comments stated, it does take some time for delivery, 45-75 min, but definilty worth the wait. When ever it arrives, it has alway been hot and fresh. The fresh cut fries have always been awsome and the burgers have always been hot and juicy. I would recomend to anyone.

First time i tried Ed's I went into the restuarant and ordered my meal to go. Definately not a place you would want to sit down and eat a meal. The place looks very dingy and low-class. The person running the cash register seemed very slow and added the bill incorrectly. There was a man sitting at the bar watching tv which I later found out was big Ed. He seemed pleasant enough but the whole atmosphere was very unprofessional. When I tasted my food at home I was very pleased. A greasy spoon kind of meal but it really hit the spot. 1/2 lb burger was juicy and the fries were great. However, I ordered delivery a month later and was definately not inpressed. I started calling at 5:30 and didn't get to place and order until 6:00. I kept getting told to call back so I finally left my number for them to call me. There was a delivery charge of three dollars and the ad in the phone book stated free delivery. My food took and hour and 10 minutes to arrive and I live 5 blocks away. The food was no where near as good as the first time I tried it. The burger was still warm but the meat was tough. The fries were also over-cooked. I dont know if I would try it again, I like to know what to expect when I am ordering.

After my last order, I will personally never order from Big Ed's again. Placing an order for delivery which takes 1hour10min to arrive, when it arrives it is ice cold and far less then expected. $20 for 2 chicken fingers and 4 slices of burnt (which the black was scraped off with a knife before serving) very disgusting garlic bread+cheese (picture of this http://www.imagebam.com/image/f8882992822016 ). When calling back to complain as this was quite a horrible order to open up and see, was given much attitude and refusal of any real compensation or even just having them take this order back with a refund (even if they kept the delivery charge). The only thing offered was a free mootine on our next order (btw theres tons of free mootine coupons in phone books or menus that come with orders). Horrible food, horrible service, insane wait time. Never again Ed.

Awesome food, where else can you get the "mootine". Their smallest burger is most other places largest. Their fries are addictive. Everyone there is great and friendly, and there are some cool fish swimming in the corner.

This place is no longer called Nimmi's, it is now Big Ed's. In the spirit of Texas beef barons they now serve the biggest dang burgers in the entire city. While the faint of heart will have to settle for a one pounder (16 ounces) those with the artery space to spare can supersize their way up to the three pounder (48 ounces). Wow! And on a curious note, the son of the owner has invented a brand new dish. It's called mootine. It's sort of a soup with mashed potatoes, unthickened gravy (the "au jus" you can get with a roast beef sandwich) and melted cheese on top. I really haven't tried it, despite the eagerness of Ed Junior himself trying to sell customers his concoction in person. I think I'll pass, but it really is nice to see gastronomic creativity flourishing in the Hammer (that's local lingo for downtown Hamilton for you Torontonians out there...you know steel, anvil, get it?). All the luck to you boys!!
