Comments: I went there with my family to celebrate an occasion. After the visit, everyone who had the "Lamb Feast" got food poisoning. I ended up missing 2 days of work, and spending a night in the emergency room. Beware! | | Review Date: 2008-08-22 |

Comments: Hello, we went last night to the SUltan's tent, and I have only one word: FRAUD!! To start with, the restaurant was so dark, we had to ask for a flashlight to read the menu!! Then we had to move twice, because our seats were so uncomfortable, we finally found a table with more space. The service was terrible, the guy had the dollar sign in his eyes, and as we didnt order booze, we noticed we had to wait a long time for the next dish to arrive. That was not a fair way to treat us. Apetizers: Harira soup was terrible, so thick and the smell was uncomfortable. The hummus was good, but the pita bread was old and dry. The bowl of olives was just that-- a bowl of olives straight from Dominion's footstore. The couscous royale was such a huge disappointment. The grain was undercooked, flavorless and orange (I wonder why). The broth was thick, and very sugary. The vegetables were a few carrots and that's all. We had couscous in Morocco, and believe me when I say that real couscous is out-of-this-world delight! But Sultan's Tent call that awful thing couscous, and poor Canadians believe that's what it is! The lamb with the couscous was good--- undercooked. The chicken was very dry. The merguez sausages were so bland and yukky, we didnt eat them. Finally, the dessert was kinda cheap, slices of orange sprinkled with cinamon, and 2 tiny baklavas. The belly dancing was quite amateurish, even though the girl was nice and friendly, you could see that was not her specialty. In short, there are other Moroccan restaurants in Toronto, not so expensive too (we paid over 100 dollars for this terrible meal). Whatever you do, DO NOT GO TO THE SULTAN'S TENT. Well, now you have been warned! Lise | | Review Date: 2008-06-11 |

Comments: This is our second time and last time visiting this restaurant, deceiving menu and the food was just terrible. WE have to return 4 sword fishes and order instead Salmon. it was not comfortable as the temperature was high and the belly dancing has no relation to Moroccan dancing. Comments: Hello, I would just like to tell you about my bad experience at the Sultans Tent this past Saturday Feb 10. We arrived a group of 16 people and were seated in our own tent. Being my first visit to the Sultans Tent I was looking forward to comparing it to other Moroccan restaurants with belly dancing and such. I was very displeased at the belly dancing act itself. It only lasted about 30minutes total and the show wasn't organised at all. the belly dancers just seemed to wonder around dancing at the same speed and asking people if they would like to try dancing. Despite the rhythm of the songs changing the dancers kept the same routine, they would not change the tempo of their dancing to match the rhythm. I found that to be very amateur. Paying a base price of $40 per meal I would expect a show that had some orginisation involved, instead of just getting the people involved.
At the end of it all. We were advised by the waitor that we had to leave, despite not having finished our meals, because the next group of people were waiting to be seated. We were handed our bills by table, despite having asked to be billed by couples, the waiter said it wasn't possible to do so, when obviously there were couples eating in the restaurant.
In the end, after paying over $200 total (because we had to devide the bill in 2 groups ourselves, we didnt have time to finish our meals and enjoy a drink. The show was dis-organised and my entire experience was very bad. I have had much better experiences and shows at other locations and the bill was able to be devided the way we asked.
I believe the reviews of the place in some of the papers were misleading and my personal experience with the place wasn't pleasing at all. I have never written a complaint before but I felt compeld to do so after visiting the Sultans Tent. | | Review Date: 2007-02-15 |
