Comments: This was the WORST "seafood" I have ever had. Bland lobster covered in some type of flour-based gravy that was supposed to be a cream sauce. The waiter was rude, slow and seemed to think he was working in a gih class establishment not the tacky, dingy, dirty tourist trap it is. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!!!!

Comments: It was horrible. Large bones in my food. This restaurant is a disgrace to all others and due to its location it preys upon the cities tourists and tarnishes this city.

Comments: This place is a complete tourist trap. When you see all the lit signs, you think fun. When you go inside its dark, with curtains covering the windows, the place is on a huge slope, service is AWFUL, and food is even worse, its bland and it comes cold. The hostess told us to wait outside, meanwhile there was at least 10 YES TEN tables free. They do this to make the restuarant seem busy even though it isn't. So we waited for 20 minutes, and another 20 minutes just to get served. After about 1.5 hours we finally got our food. It was as if the waiter cooked the food. By far the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant.
DO NOT GO! It's not worth it, over priced!

Comments: By far, the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant!

My friends and I were are in our mid-twenties and were waiting for a boat party to board. We had some time to kill so we decided to go in to Captain John's for a couple of drinks. To start with, we were seated at a small table by the door even though we requested a bigger table and there were over a dozen available tables...we were told they were all reserved. Then, everyone ignored us for a while, until finally the barteneder came and asked what we wanted to drink because apparently our waitress was too busy (there were only four other tables filled, aside from ours, and at least 5 staff persons). We each ordered a double rum and coke. Later a waitress came by, who was looking at our bill with a very confused look on her face, didn't even say hi or look at us, despite the fact that we said hi to her, and just dropped the bill on the table...we were charged $18/drink!!! The place is old and tacky...it is by no means a high class restaurant! We started to think that they overcharged us because they wanted us out of there (for what reason it was not clear, as we were all appropriately dressed and behaved). When we asked someone for the drink menu to verify the prices, he told us that he was a busboy and didn't know where the drink menus were. As we were asking him to find out where they were, he walked away! Finally, we were so fed up, that we decided to complain to the bartender about the treatment we had been getting...her answer was "OK, ladies, so what do you want? A free drink?" We were absolutely stunned. We told her that we could afford our drinks and were actually asking for respect, but it didn't seem that she was willing to give us that. We paid for our drinks and left. Even today, two weeks later, I am still deeply offended by their disrespctful treatment. After reading these reveiws, I am amazed that a place like that can still get business in Toronto!
