Comments: Management has a twisted view on customer service and treats their employees poorly I should know I used to work there (on more than one occasion servers were on the verge of tears) they cut corners any way they can
bottomline: they work for the dollar not for the customer | | Review Date: 2008-09-12 |

Comments: This was my first experience in Lemongrass, as it was recommended by a collegue. The crispy beef which I ordered, accompanied by jasmine rice, was delicious. It seemed awfully loud in there, once it was full. The service was nice & our server even sang "happy birthday" to someone in our party of 16! | | Review Date: 2008-08-16 |

Comments: I'm surprised and saddened to read such bad reviews, and feel compelled to even things out.
I've been to Lemongrass many times and, for the most part, enjoyed my meal. Yes, the atmosphere is a little stark, but I like the funky, modern wall of white, yellows and grey as a focal point.
The wait staff seem typical of Asian restaurants where they hover and are eager to take your plates, which may come off pushy and make you feel rushed or pressured to leave. But I guess that's their cultural service style and they're keen to please.
As for the food, the menu is expansive and can be overwhelming--too many choices, which seem too similar at times. Less is more is my theory in any restaurant.
However, once you sift through it all and find the right dish, it'll keep you coming back for more. Yes, the Wonton Soup is a little bland and the dumplings are rubbery and the Pad Thai was mushy, reddish and ketchupy. BUT, I've learned to stick to my usual dishes: Mango Chicken and, my FAV, Crispy Shredded Rainbow Beef (which I can't get enough of) all served with Jasmine rice.
Simple: discover what you like and stick with it! | | Review Date: 2008-05-02 |

Comments: The worst part about this restaurant is the food. I had a wonton soup; the broth was okay (taste of MSG as you would find anywhere), but the wonton dumplings were terrible. The meat inside it was an unidentified mixture of what seemed to be chicken fat and flour; it was mushy and airy, even worse than McDonald's chicken nuggets. Then came the entree, lemongrass chicken (or so they called it). Although it was served with a large portion of white rice, and a crisp spring roll on the side, this entree was highly disappointing. There was no hint of lemongrass flavour or aroma whatsoever; and the pieces of so-called lemongrass were actually spring onion. The chicken was covered in a ketchupy sauce that was overwhelmingly sweet; and, morever, the dish arrived lukewarm!
Although Lemongrass does try to create a modern, minimalist atomsphere with its decor, it seemed quite stark. Maybe it would have had more ambience at night. The waiters, also, were somewhat pressuring in taking our plates. | | Review Date: 2008-01-05 |

Comments: The restaurant didn't do much for us in terms of decor, food, or service. Decor: ~It's a big room intended to be modern. The design fails to make it feel cosy though - it's too stark. The tables at the ends don't have any elbow room because the end walls are way too high - uncomfortable. Food: ~appetizer platter - okay. The cold rice rolls could have had more colour, texture and flavour. Chicken satay was good as were the vietnamese spring rolls. The shrimp on sugarcane was a disaster. Too rubbery, no texture. If I have to refer to the menu to realize what the ingredients are, it's not worth it. ~lemongrass chicken - very bland. I had to concentrate to get a hint of the lemongrass flavour, and that was the only flavour coming through. ~pad thai with chicken - ketchupy. I don't know how else to describe it. Pad thai is supposed to have hits of tamarind and deep flavours of coconut and peanuts. This just had the sour hints of ketchup flavour and the red tinge to go with it. Service: ~didn't start out too well but got better near the end. I'm not incredibly inclined to go here again (we spent $40 for two with no drinks). I still want to be proven wrong though, so I'll go to try some other food. | | Review Date: 2007-09-07 |

Comments: This is the newest restaurant at Square One. There are 2 entrances to the restaurant, so it's hard to tell who should be seated next and it leads to a bit of confusion because people don't know if they should stay where they are or move their way to the line that has formed at the other door. As for the atmosphere, it's very 'modern', and I don't much like it. Plus there is dance music playing in the background which can be both annoying and distracting. The menu is very well presented, but some of the items on the menu are not available at the restaurant. Then... why are they on the menu? I was a bit disappointed with their wonton soup, it tasted a bit funny. And my perception of what their lemongrass chicken was going to be (all restaurants do it different I guess) was far off. It was still ok, but not great. For the first part of our meal, our waiter was a little rude, but once the lunch time rush started to thin out he became nicer. I wasn't overly impressed with the restaurant. | | Review Date: 2007-02-03 |

Comments: I had spicy shanghai noodles which were very good but not very spicy. The green tea was excellent. The atmosphere is simply non-existent. A big room with absolutely nothing going for it. One further thing which irked me is why have something on the menu which you have no intention on serving? | | Review Date: 2007-02-02 |
